October Update from South Florida Music

Greetings from South Florida Music!

What an unexpected start to the school year this has been for us all. Our wish is that you, your family, and your homes are well following the many hurricanes that have affected the Atlantic this year. In addition, our thoughts are with those in the areas affected by the earthquakes, wildfires, and tragedies occurring on an all too frequent basis. In these times, we hope you are able to find peace and comfort with your loved ones.

As a service to those who may have been displaced from their homes, South Florida Music, in collaboration with Friends of South Florida Music, would like to welcome any displaced families to join our fall classes and enjoy complimentary tuition. For more information, please view our flyer here or contact us for further details!

While the start of our classes were delayed by Hurricane Irma, we are pleased to be at the halfway point of our fall semester. Space does remain in certain sections. Visit our Schedule page for current availability!

Along with our weekly classes, our 2018 Disney Performance group has been in rehearsals since late August. This group of 28 young musicians is preparing to take the stage at Disney Springs at 12:15pm on January 5, 2018, where they will present 30 minutes of music on the Waterfront Stage!

Can’t make it to Orlando in January? Current and alumni musicians from South Florida Music will participate in the Friends of South Florida Music Fall Benefit Recitals on Saturday, November 4 at The Fish House Restaurant and Sunday, November 5 at Christ Congregational Church. Another opportunity to see our SFM piano students perform is at the Miami ZooLights event at Zoo Miami on Saturday, December 16th. Friends of South Florida Music will provide additional entertainment on Saturday, December 23rd. Come out and enjoy an evening of family friendly holiday music and lights!

Friends of South Florida Music will also be participating in Give Miami Day on November 16, 2017. All tax deductible donations will be matched by the Miami Foundation on this date! Please help us to provide the gift of music to underserved populations in our community and visit givemiamiday.org for additional information.

While our fall semester may feel like it has just begun, your South Florida Music staff is hard at work planning for our spring semester and events, including our annual Spring Benefit Concert, scheduled for April 22, 2018. We look forward to sharing another wonderful year of music and learning with you and your children!

Musically Yours,

South Florida Music Staff
