Age: 5 years of age (Completion of Music for Makers at Home is recommended, though not essential, to enter this level)

Class Length: 1 hour, once a week LIVE on Zoom

Materials (Included in Advertised Price):Folder(s) containing songs, activities, parent guide, CD/Digital Download of Course Music, and access to the digital Music Makers Around the World Resource Page. *Materials must be picked up prior to your first class, or may be shipped for an additional fee. Contact our office for details! 

Note: If a child is entering a Makers level class for the first time, a one-time glockenspiel (musical Instrument) purchase is required. This additional $40 fee is not built into the advertised semester price. The glockenspiel is needed for our weekly classes and will also be used in subsequent semesters. Registering in this level will automatically add the glockenspiel to your cart. If you have one from a previous semester, please remove the glockenspiel prior to check out.

Description: Music Makers: Around the World, year two of this sequential curricular level, continues the development of singing, creative and structured movement, playing instruments and ensemble work, ear training and guided listening, as well as a developmentally sound approach to music literacy that builds symbolic thinking, concentration, memory, and self-expression. In this level, children will continue to read and play a variety of melodies on the glockenspiel instrument, while exploring various world cultures and their music. The parent or caregiver who participates on Zoom will also serve in a supportive role at home, as children are expected to practice the songs and patterns learned each week. Completion of this level provides excellent readiness for future musical endeavors, be it playing piano, singing in a choir, or joining an instrumental ensemble.

Musical Goals: Play a melodic instrument (glockenspiel); Read, write, and play melodies; Build a bank of familiar songs that are the foundation for Music At the Piano; Develop ensemble skills; Demonstrate and move in sequences to a steady beat; Differentiate musical patterns; Discover music from various cultures and places around the world; Build home practice skills
