Music for Babies (Birth-1 Year)
Ages: Birth to 1 Year (once the baby begins walking independently, the toddler level should be considered for the subsequent semester)
Class Length: 30 minutes, once a week for 5 weeks
Materials (Included in Advertised Price): All registrations include these mandatory materials for home and weekly class use:
- a baby’s instrument kit pouch, containing rhythm sticks, scarf, and rattle
- a supplemental instrument package, containing 3 scarves, 2 pairs of egg shakers, 2 pairs of jingles, and 1 pair of sticks
If you previously purchased one of the instrument kits listed above, please contact our office prior to registration to receive a pricing adjustment.
Class Option:
- Fridays, 11:30am-12:00pm (June 10 – July 15, no class July 1) at Plymouth Congregational Church in Coconut Grove

Description
Description: Play musically with your baby in a non-competitive, non-stressful environment through bouncing and rocking songs, wiggle and peek-a-boo games, dancing, moving, and singing. Music play activities are designed to increase your child’s curiosity about music, to develop listening skills, a sense of beat, and to establish a foundation for singing and musical thought.
Musical Goals: Feel and express a steady beat; Experiment with vocalizations; Encourage meaningful movement; Form a bank of familiar songs; Be exposed to various styles of music; Differentiate various instrument sounds; Lay the groundwork for singing and speech so that children learn to sing at the same time they learn to talk; Awaken baby’s natural curiosity and and response to music.
Developmental Goals: Foster bonding between baby and caregiver; Develop a foundation for gross and fine motor; Develop hand-eye coordination; Develop language connections; Offer listening and sensory stimulation; Provide focused auditory stimulation.
